LOVE JAM

Hey all, last weekend I was in London at the UKs newest cable park at Liquid Leisure for the Love Jam contest.

This was my first time riding their new cable and I really enjoyed it. The obstacles are fun even though they haven't got many in at the moment and with the island in the middle it doesn't get ridiculously choppy. So the Love Jam contest was a fun event and a nice day for it too. With all the different categories having plenty of entries it made it even more fun!

It was £10 to enter which include practice ride, competition runs and a pizza, really good deal for a competition these days. The riding was in heats of about 10mins, not quite long enough but was still enough to bang out a lot of tricks. Each category was fun and impressive to watch from the groms to the pros with everyone trying new big tricks to get on top of that podium and big tricks are good crowd pleaser for sure.

In my category, the wakeskate, it was real fun riding with all the other skaters and riding the different obstacles, everyone was killing it on obstacles and flat, an Ozzie shredder came 3rd, Taylor in 2nd and I got 1st winning £250 prize money! This was a sick event and I'm sure LL will be hosting more like it next summer

Just checking in with an update on my past two events

I was at the Ryan & Tony Birch Memorial contest the weekend before last - this is a boat wakeboard contest, unfortunately didn't ride great in the finals but I ended up winning the big air kicker comp and took home £200.

The weekend just gone was the Love Jam at Liquid Leisure. Really fun event great atmosphere for their first cable comp and I rode well getting 1st on my wakeskate, with £250 prize money.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to get any photos as I have been going on my own to most of these contests but If i see any going about from these comps I'll get them posted.

WINDFEST 2010

Hey all,

Hope everyone it getting out on the water before the winter comes along..

Last week from Thursday to Monday I was a WindFest at Sandbanks way down south in Bournemouth. This was an insane long weekend of my summer and I really enjoyed it!

Windfest is a small festival to do with all different kinds of sports mainly kitesurfing. Some of the other activities that were going on was the Animal bike tour, tight rope walking, The wakeboard and wakeskate pool gap on the beach and many more. Then on an evening was different themed party nights.

The pool gap was built into the beach two pools dug out and filled with the sea water then we had these obstacles in between the pools to hit, a gap roof top, box and a c-rail, all of these rails were fun and a challenge for all of the riders, which made it exciting for the big crowds on Sandbanks. There was riders from all over this year that came over, some from nottingham, sheffield and a few from london as well as the Dirty South crew that live in that area.

Thanks to Oli and Liam from the Dirty South who helped me out letting me stay with them at Oli's place and Miller for making a fun event. Also Parky that runs the Rockstar wakeboard boat down there.

This year was even better than last year with everyone there and all the people I have met. From the riding there was lots going off with all different tricks going down and even some good crashed, always a good crowd pleaser! ha.

It was also fun watching the other sports and having a go at them like the tight rope walking was a real challenge but lots of fun, and the guys there were insane doing seat drops on them and 1 guys was trying backflips and landing back on the rope!

Thanks everyone and all the photographers, this has been a real fun weekend and looking forward to next years Windfest!

Hey all, Saturday was the Final stop of the Ten Feet High series for 2010! The final was a great finisher for sure! With the large crowd and lots of competitors ready to end on a high! There were not as many competitors though as at some of the other stops. There were only four of us in the wakeskate category but this was good fun as it gave us more time on the water to get all our bangers down. The conditions were perfect for wakeskate with no wind just butter. In the skate cat. mike came 4th, Will got 3rd, Zander took 2nd and I got 1st. Fun times! Also in the other categories such as inters a little shredder, Tom at only 13 took 1st and also came 1st in the overall! Well Done everyone! It was a real fun series look forward to next year Laters..

Hey all, Last weekend i was at Nottingham cable for a competition. Involving wakeboard and wakeskate, this is Will and Zander's home cable so it was good fun to ride with them there. It wasn't a massive competition as the cable is quite small, but it was a lot of fun! There were all the locals and some from Sheffield cable that came down for it. There were the girls, amateur, pro and skate categories, with a few people in each group making it a fun competitive event. I entered the skate and also went in for the pro category on wakeboard for fun, ha. Not doing to well on the wakeboard coming last out of 4 people but it was fun and in wakeskate team rider Zander took 3rd, Will taking 2nd and I got 1st. It was a fun small comp for Nottingham. See you all tomorrow at the Final of TFH!

Hey Guys, On Saturday was the 4th stop of the Ten Feet High Series at Sheffield cable. This was a good fun stop of the series with all the riders riding well and the weather being its usual cloudiness with a bit of sunshine but at least it wasn't really windy.

Also in the pro and inters categories there was not so many riders and some were at the cable Europeans i believe. This gave it a closer competition for the wakeboarders. In the skate category we had the usual amount of skaters that we normally have in it for each stop making it a really fun and competitive series but having that many riders makes it fun to ride with everyone at the same time.

the podium results for skate were will in 3rd zander in 2nd and I came out on top taking 1st place. Everyone rode well making it a sweet event. see you all at the Final stop in September, laters..

Winch Trip 2010

Hey all, Last week I went on a winch trip around England with Sim, Reed, Liam and Terry. This was really sick and great experience for me as I haven't done much winching before this trip. Although we did a large amount of travelling and searching for numerous remote spots to hit, we only got to hit about quarter of the spots we found. But the ones we did hit were really sick!

We started off at boxend and went to the up weir near MK, then to London where we stayed at Sim's place. Thanks Sim. Then bright and early we headed even more south to Bournemouth and on the way we hit this big drop at Yeovilton, which was alot of fun for a big drop afterwards we stayed at Liam's place. Thanks Liam.

Next morning another early start to the day we headed back up north to Shewsbury which had a concrete ledge and a big up weir to hit in a line. Everyone killed it at this spot getting multiple number of tricks up it. We stayed in a Holiday Inn that night then went to Derby and this one spot we found was pretty sick as it was a legit stair set and a good height.

After that we headed back to Bedford hitting a good little weir and also hit the up weir near MK again. This was sweet finding all these spots in the UK, giving us a perspective of actually how many spots there actually are, including all the other spots we found on the way but they were not hittable on the day but it was great to see what's out there for us to winch. Look forward to more winching in the future!

Look out for the next issue of Alliance UK for the photos and more info, also keep and eye on alliancewake.co.uk for the winch trip when it's up. later..

Hey all, Last weekend was the Junior Boat wakeboard and wakeskate Nationals. This was a really fun event for the younger wake riders to battle it out for the Junior title. We started off with the qualifying on the saturday with a great standard of riding and then on the sunday was the LCQ (Last Chance Qaulifier) and then the final later on in the day. The weather conditions weren't the best but they aren't most of the time in England ha. Everyone rode well over the whole weekend. I Rode to a good standard on the saturday getting me in the final in both wakeboard and wakeskate. Then my riding wasnt as great on the sunday but you can't always ride your best ha. Though I still placed 2nd on the wakeskate and 3rd on the wakeboard. Overall this was a great event and thanks to the main sponsor, Ultra Sport Europe and all the other sponsors everyone enjoyed a fun weekend! Check back soon..

Hey All,

Ten Feet High Stop 3 was a good stop!

This was the best conditions we have had yet for any of the stop this year, with calm conditions and only a little bit of rain ha. But also this stop wasn't so busy as a lot of the pro wakeboarders were at the cable world championships.

Even with less people it was still a great and very enjoyable event! It also gave an opportunity for the less advanced pros to have a good chance of podium. In my category there was still a fair amount of skaters riding so it kept the fun competitiveness to it! Everyone rode well and stuck good tricks, Brandon a local rider came 3rd, Zander came 2nd also putting in a nice kickflip and I came out on top riding the best I have done in a competition yet, taking 1st place! So stoked! good times!

Everyone made it a great event and looking forward to next stop next month..

see you all there

WAKESTOCK 2010!!!

Hey all,

Just been at a massive Festival all weekend! Relentless Wakestock! Largest Wakeboard Festival in Europe based in Abersoch in Wales!

This was my first time at Wakestock and it was a great experience! I heard from last years that it was none stop rain and mud! But this year was a big improvement although it did rain the first two days but after that it was very nice indeed with sunshine and warm even though it was very windy all the riders put on a sick weekend of riding!

Also this year Wakestock became one of the WWA Stops of the world series so the top athletes from all over the world joined at Wakestock to party and compete for lots of $dollars! There were top riders from the likes of Aaron Rathy, Phil Soven, Randall Harris, Adam Errington, Dean Smith, Amber Wing, Nicola Butler and many more insane riders!

There was two sides to the riding over the weekend, being the boat contest and the pool gap contest. The boat side is was the main attractions in the sport as it was at the marina in the harbour of Abersoch! There was two big rails in the harbour, one being the Leviathan which is the famous box, wall ride obstacle and another being the massive roof top and this thing was huge!

Over the weekend it started out with the qualifying rounds on the boat and on the pool gap for wakeboard. Then each time it came down to less and less riders for the semis and the finals on the Sunday. For the wakeskating, not so much going on but we got a couple of sessions on the pool gap but wasn't really enough to get into it as the rails were big and designed for wakeboarders. Hopefully next year they give a little more for the wakeskaters to do.

As it was a massive festival there were lots of bands playing over the whole weekend, great music in the big tents and the main stage. Music from bands like The Ting Tings, Futureheads, Feeder also Tiny Tempah, Zane Lowe and many more great acts including Pritchard and Dainton!

So the awards were celebrated on the sunday night of Wakestock, the last night and it was a good one. The top riders coming out on top on the boat contest were: 3rd Austin Hair, 2nd Aaron Rathy and on top of his game was Phil Soven taking 1st place! The Women's were: 3rd Robbi Rendo, 2nd Nicola Butler and 1st was Australian rider Amber Wing! Also Will Bradley taking the best overall rider for wakeskate!

This whole weekend was incredible and so much fun to watch and be a part of the riding and the night life was very much enjoyable!!

Looking forward to 2011 Wakestock! Don't miss out!

Hey Guys,

Just had a sick weekend at the Open Nationals at Ten 80 near Tamworth.

This was a really enjoyable weekend for everyone as it was so hot! The vide from all the riders and spectators was great keeping the weekend of shredding pumped! There was just a smaller amount of riders there than last year but that didnt stop it from being an awesome weekend.

Everyone was killing it on the water and I rode well also coming on top with 1st place podium on the wakeskate and 3rd place podium finish on the wakeboard, this was a great achievement for me as I haven't ridden a wakeboard properly in a few months. So, totally stoked!

Hey All,

Last weekend was the second stop of the Ten Feet High series!

This was just as great as the last one with a massive crowd again and loads of rider making it bigger and better each event. This time there was also the first cable stop of the Pro Wakeboard Tour. The tour hasn't been going for a while and its great to see they have brought it back into play for those top UK pro wakeboarders. Good Times for sure!

The TFH was fun with not the best of weather though as it was incredibly windy on the day of the event! But it was still fun to ride with the other wakeskaters. Unfortunately I didn't ride my best placing me 3rd on the podium. It was quite difficult for everyone to ride in those conditions so not too bad. Well done to Will for home 1st and local ripper at Sheffield for taking 2nd!

Next event is the British Open Nationals next weekend!

Hey Guys,

Here's a little extra bit of some skateboarding me and some of the other riders at ThinkTank did, on this random but so much fun mini quarter ramp at Princes club.

This thing was so much fun for just one little thing. As Liam Smith from the DirtSouth, Reed Watson from Cali, Callum Warren from Haverigg and I ripped up this little ramp, along came Luke Gartside and took some killer photos of us hitting it up!

That little ripper Callum who's only like 12, killed that ramp with some sick flip tricks and Reed the Cali beast got some gnarly nose pics. Me and Liam were tech style on it!

Hello fellow shredders!

ThinkTank!

This was insane! over the weekend was THE main event for wakeskating in the UK! - ThinkTank Wakeskate Jam.

What it is, is a get together for all the wakeskaters to hang out and ride together, doing and showing their best tricks and skills on the Pool Gap and Jetski rail sets.

The whole set up of the event was awesome and so much fun to ride on throughout the whole weekend! Pool gap was legit! and I had a lot of fun shredding behind the jetski!

All the riders that were there killed it - everyone stepped up their game and as it was my first year at ThinkTank, I was trying hard to push the banger out too!

Fortunately for me I got overall Best Rider for 2010 ThinkTank! This was pretty awesome for me so I want to thank all the guys at Alliance for the whole event, No White Sugar for the videos and all the footage, and all the photographers! And not forgetting all the riders! Thanks for the year's sponsorship from Kustom footwear, so stoked now I can ride in some shoes that dont have holes in them! HaHa!

I really enjoyed ThinkTank and can't wait for next year!

See you all next year!

Next event is Stop 2 of TFH, keep checking in...

THF Stop 1 + Winters Over!

Hey all,

This is my first blog for Ultra Sport about the Ten Feet High sheffield cable stop one. This was my first cable event for the season and it was a great one! There were so many people there compared to last year, so it was a great improvement on the competition. It was also great to see more new faces in my main category, wakeskate, which made it more of a challenge and much more fun!

As this was not only my first cable comp of the year but first one after coming back from injury through the winter. Whilst I was training out in Florida at OWC I bust my left knee, the meniscus snapped then folded. To cut the long story short, it wasn't going to heal on its own so I had to have key hole surgery on it the following week. But I am doing well now and back on form with my riding.

My result at the first stop of TFH being 1st place in wakeskate on my new Liquid Force, Obscura, SST, 40.5 Danny Hampson (insane skate!) was such an achievement for me as it was the first time I won a cable event!

Thanks for reading, there will be many more posts to come..
