SST Wake Skate
Taylor Dell gives us the low-down on his new board:
Well where do I start? I had the best session I think I have ever had thanks to that board and you, but seriously -  I rode that board and did not want to get off it.
This time you guys have redesigned the mold and smashed it. The matt finish on the bottom makes it spin faster on the water which helps with 360 shuvits and tricks like that and it seems to have more grip on the rails and sliders, but no more then u need. Also with last years model there were no washers where the screws went into the board, but this year they have them so it is now PERFECT....So what i am trying to say is thank you ever so much and the board is amazing.

FLX Review
from Sponsored Rider David O'Caoimh

This board is somethFLX wakeboarding else! I first rode it on the cable with no fins and it is just so light on your feet. When you lift it, it’s a fair bit lighter than a normal board despite the core being made of wood, but then when you go out on the water, it just seems like it isn’t even there – almost as if you are on the trampoline.

I really loved it on the cable with no fins because when you get on the sliders you can just press and it flexes so well. Also the slider base is nice and slippy on the obstacles, which gives you enough speed to stay on those long rails.

I also found that the slider base lasts really well, just like Kevin Henshaw says himself: “it is as durable as a snowboard”.

The last thing that makes this board really good in my eyes was that when you take it to the boat it is actually pretty impressive. I rode it behind the boat a good few times with the fins on, and honestly it is a perfectly functional board on the wake. It has slightly less pop than a normal board but it makes up for this by having extremely soft landings! They are unbelievable! I think it’s because the board flexes on hitting  the water.

All in all I think that this board is an all-round good board for sliders and boat. It is light, durable and flexy! I think that in the coming years flex boards are really going to take off and everyone will be riding them as the landings are just incredibly soft.

If I were to describe this board in one word it would be “Fun”.

Check out the Lyman handle from Straight Line Keith Lyman

The Lyman pro handle feLyman Wakeboard handleatures the newest innovation available in the handle market - the Hydra-tak grip.  The Hydra-tak material is completely new to wakeboard handles and becomes incredibly “Sticky when wet”, transforming like no other handle out there does.  The Lyman handle is also outfitted with a hexagon-shaped bar for a great grip as well as stiff anti-roll arms.

Rider and namesake Keith Lyman had this to say about his new handle, “This handle is sick, the Hydra-tak material is so awesome when it gets wet, it totally changes the way it feels in your hands, it is so soft and grippy.  I’ve never ridden with anything like it before and can’t imagine ever going back to a foam handle.”

Here Come the Girls

Check out the new 2010 Liquid Force range of boards for girls

Liquid Force is well-known throughout the industry for providing some of the best wakeboards around. And this is not just for the men. Liquid Force has established a name for itself as one of the best providers of wakeboards for girls. “This season is set to be another hot one for the girls out there,” says Charlotte Bryant, Liquid Force team rider, “With a range of four boards to choose from, some funky new graphics, and the technical expertise to make the best out of the sport. There’s something for everyone.”

As an example, look at the Jett:  Amber Wing’s signature board is designed for the rider looking to edge, pop, and fly more explosively then ever before. This is Liquid Force’s most aggressive women’s shape, and it features a three-stage hybrid rocker for smooth transitions when boosting off the wake. If you’re looking to fly, this is the Jett you’ve been waiting for.

The three stage, hybrid rocker provides a straighter curve through the centre with accelerated kick out at the tips, meaning a smoother transition into the tail section which will result in a higher trajectory off the wake.

A Double-Inside-Single-Concave (DISC) softens landings and maintains board speed, which, let’s face it, is what you need when you’re popping higher than before on this beauty of a board.

With the Double Concave V Tail, you’ll get more controlled water flow through the ends of the board for extra thrust and lift.

The Jett also features a Variable Edge Rail, as well as Moulded-in deep, canted, long-based side fins, which will give you unbelievable hold from the large inside face of the fins, while maintaining a low outside profile for no hang-ups.

And finally, the Winged Rail Shape means that you get Side bite slots for an extra kick in the flats and quicker release off the wake.

Liquid Force team rider Charlotte Bryant says: “The Jett has the perfect combination of qualities you look for in a board – it allows smooth transitioning, lets you pop even higher than before so you really fly through the air, and it has some great graphics to match. This is one I would definitely recommend getting your hands on this summer!”

As well as the Jett, the range includes the Luna, Angel and Melissa Hybrid. Charlotte says: “With this choice, let’s face it, you’ll definitely find the board you’re looking for, and some great graphics to go with it.”

“And don’t forget that Liquid Force also do a great range of clothing, meaning you’ll look good on and off the water,” says Charlotte, “All in all it looks set to be a great summer for Liquid Force, even if the British weather doesn’t match it. So make sure you get your hands on one of the new Liquid Force boards and get riding.”

Shane F.L.Y Review
"I just rode the new set up last night (Shane Fly 138 With Shane Fly Ltd Bindings) and thought I'd let you know that it rides really nicely compared to the old model Shane. It's retained all the Play of the original which is great for surface tricks, riding switch and especially on landings (very forgiving if you get things slightly wrong). The new tail of the board seems to help generate a much smoother, easier and bigger release from the wake, and I'm not sure why but it tracks a lot better on a hard edge as far as manoeuvrability goes.

"As for the close toe Shane Ltd with air sole, all I can say is - why haven't they been doing this for years? The boot to board Reaction is 10 times better because of the baseless binding tech. The air sole takes nothing away but adds a little more cushion, not only when landing in the flats, but when popping of the wake, making a much more comfortable and therefore more enjoyable ride."

Regular Lyman versus the F.L.Y (lightweight range)
"Ok... All last season and the start of this season I have been riding the regular Lyman. I love this board so much because it gives you so much pop as well as those nice soft landings and it's also quite a fast board which I like.

"The FLY version is unbelievably lighter!!!!! It weighs nothing.  It’s just like a big odd shaped Frisbee!! Ok this might sound weird but whenever you change over to it, you don’t exactly notice the weight as much as you think you might. It just feels a little easier to control in the air, etc.

"It wasn’t until I changed back to the normal Lyman for a slider set that I really noticed the difference. When I tried a few tricks on the wake on the normal board after being on the FLY, I was quite simply astonished by the difference. Whenever I was in the air the weight was making it really hard to do a lot of my tricks, especially on my spins.

"Overall, I do think that the FLY is a much better board but I wouldn’t advise you go hitting it on sliders, etc., because I haven’t yet found out how durable it is.
I also think that Liquid Force have really opened a new door in terms of light boards. I’m serious. It’s indescribable how light this thing is. If it was possible to balance it on my baby finger I would be able to do so easily!!!"

Witness Grind
Steph Caller gets her new Witness Grind: " Thanks for my new board! I love it! I reckon the witness is the best board as it holds a great edge and releases really smooth off the water. Plus the grind base makes it slide super nice too! : ) "

The New S4
What James Young says..."Hi Neil - I received the equipment, thanks a lot for organinsing it quick!
The S4 is such a sick board for the cable - the best I've ever ridden! I managed to learn new tricks the first day of riding it!"

SUBSTANCE/GRIND
Rail Riding has become such an integral part of wakeboarding these days that it’s only fitting to make a board designed to withstand the abuse that jibbing can bring. With more and more parks jammed with kickers and sliders, it was necessary to build a board that would last longer than the rider. The Substance Grind with its new Grind Base Material is the perfect weapon for an all out rail assault. Cable Parks across the world are lining up to put these boards in their demo fleet and our team riders all have one in their quiver… if you’re serious about riding rails, you should definitely have one in your quiver as well!
