Young Climber Sets Sights on Everest

Ed Farrelly aims to be youngest Briton to top the world

He has already conquered the toughest Britain has to offer as well as Mount Elgon in Uganda and the ‘big hill’ that is Mont Blanc. Now, British teenager Ed Farrelly has set his sights on the peak of peaks, aiming to be the youngest Briton to canvas Mount Everest via the South-East Ridge.

Ultra Sport will be helping Ed on his way by providing goggles from Smith Optics for him to use over the next year as his training takes him to attempt increasingly impressive summits: Peak Chapayev, Baruntse and Aconcagua.

Ed told us that his reasons for choosing Smith were that they ‘make extremely good quality products which are fit for purpose – and it doesn't hurt that they look good as well!’

Ed is climbing to help raise funds and awareness for two different charities. The Alzheimer’s Society is the leading charity in its field and one very close to Ed’s heart. The work they do in the community provides support for thousands of families and there is more information at www.alzheimers.org.uk

Ed is also supporting the Depression Alliance as he believes that the way you succeed on a mountain is similar to how sufferers of depression cope with their daily struggle: taking one step at a time. The Depression Alliance website has more information www.depressionalliance.org
